U-Sofia and Aerofix Aviation Academy Announce Cooperation on a Double Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

On October 3, 2025, the Department of Aeronautics at the Faculty of Transport, TU-Sofia, and Aerofix Aviation Academy signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop and promote a Double Diploma Program in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.

This innovative program will upgrade the “Aeronautical engineering (in English)” Bachelor program of the Department of Aeronautics by awarding students also an EASA Part-147 Basic Training Certificate (including module examinations) for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians in categories B1.1 (Mechanical) and B2 (Avionics).

Delivered over four years, the program combines theoretical and practical training, a compulsory traineeship, and hands-on professional experience within an EASA Part-145 Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organization.

The first student intake is scheduled for September 2026. Applications are open to both EU and non-EU citizens and are managed by Aerofix Aviation Academy through their official website: https://www.aerofix.aero
